“To promote Godly living in a culture committed to destroying it”

One of God’s magnificent attributes is His faithful warnings to mankind regarding terrible events He may inflict if we fail to repent from our sins. As a Holy God, His justice is perfect and balanced with agape love, which means He tempers His wrath with mercy and grace. Moreover, God is faithful to inform Earth’s peoples of the dangers that lie ahead, regardless of whether they have control over them. Despite God’s fair warnings, however, man typically chooses not to heed the LORD’s warnings.
Man’s problem started in the Garden of Eden. God told Adam and Eve they could not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil lest they would surely die. There was no mistaking the command, but Satan introduced confusion into the picture and, despite God’s fair warning, Adam and Eve sinned, bringing death upon us all (Romans 5:12).
Subsequently, in just a few generations, mankind went from being created without sin to a state where “every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.” (Genesis 6:5). God’s anger with man peaked and He decided to wipe humans from the face of the Earth along with the animals. Despite His infuriation, however, God gave man fair warning, allowing 120 years to pass between His decision and the Great Flood that wiped out all except Noah, his family, and an ark full of critters.
By faith, Noah dutifully spent over a century building the ark God had commanded. Even though God had set the date for the Flood, He most likely did not reveal the exact time it would occur. Still, He gave Noah enough time to complete the ark that would save him and his family. They may not even have understood the concept of a flood or exactly what the ark was for, but Noah labored faithfully in obedience to God and was saved.
Noah’s obedience to God’s warning and request probably made him a despised man. As he preached of the looming demise, scoffers were abundant. He did not find favor in the eyes of men, for their hearts were consumed by evil. Thus, they hated Noah and persecuted him because, by both his life and his preaching, he condemned the world. Ironically, he was trying to give them an early warning of God’s wrath.
Our LORD Jesus experienced the same rebellious nature millennia later. When He preached, the religious leaders denounced and condemned Him. When He gave us God’s fair warning regarding the end of the world (Matthew 24), men hated Him, so much so they put Him to death for His ideas. Nevertheless, He was faithful to God in giving us a fair warning of the events to come and how we might be saved through faith in Him.
Jesus has promised He will return to Earth. As in the days of Noah, much of mankind will perish (Matthew 24, Revelation 6-18). Unlike in Noah’s time, God has revealed to us through His apostle John in the Book of Revelation what will happen and how the coming destruction will unfold. Whereas many mysteries remain regarding the exact implementation of the end times, God has made it very clear He will have His day of judgment.
It is normal for God to give us fair warning of coming events that will cause our demise. History demonstrates it is also typical for most people to fail to heed the warnings of God. The Bible predicts the disbelief of man. “First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, ‘Where is this “coming” He promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.’ But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s Word the Heavens existed and the Earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. But the same Word the present Heavens and Earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of ungodly men.” (2 Peter 3:3-7).
Scoffers abound today, just as they did in the days of Noah and Jesus. Those who proclaim the Truth are belittled and persecuted for their faith. God, however, has given us fair warning of the coming destruction. “Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your LORD will come.” (Matthew 24:42). His sure promise will be revealed at the proper time. Make sure you are ready by putting your faith in Jesus Christ. You won’t like the eternal consequences of rejecting Him, and God will surely remind you that He gave you fair warning.
A servant of Jesus Christ
