Promises of God

There’s a great hymn entitled “Standing on the Promises”. This song reminds us of the many things God has promised us and delivered every time. He has also made promises to be fulfilled in the future. Today I will list some of the promises God has made to each of us with references from His Word. (credits to Israel My Glory Magazine).

Comfort amid Discouragement

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2). “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).

Guidance amid Confusion

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” (Psalm 32:8) “For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.” (Psalm 48:14). “The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.” (Isaiah 58:11). “God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Peace amid Troubles

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). “The LORD is Good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7). “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27).

Courage amid Fear

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD you God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6). “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10). “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10).

Strength amid Weakness

“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). “Everything is possible for him who believes.” (Mark 9:23). “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13). “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19).

Forgiveness of Sin

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalms 103:12). “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18). You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver and gold,…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19). “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).

Unfailing Love

“I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:15-16). “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:17)  “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1).

Life Everlasting

“Whoever hears my Word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and shall not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24). “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.” (John 11:25). “No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

It is normal for God to promise and deliver. How will you respond to His promises today?
